RVU Gala

Eric's school had an end of the year gala at the Marriott hotel in the Denver Tech Center. We got dressed up, met with friends, sipped on water while everyone else was sipping on cocktails ;) enjoyed a delicious dinner and danced the night away (well, at least as much as I could coax Eric to dance with me).

Getting ready- this is maybe the first time I've curled my hair since my wedding
Me, Katrina, Kyla- can i just say I look ghastly white and glowing compared to these girls, sigh... people need to tell me to tan in the future

Grandma's Cabin

I love this wall of clowns

Eric and I finally got up to my grandma's cabin last week. I say finally because this has been a trip three years in the making. I've meant to show Eric the cabin my family built a long time ago but it just hasn't happened. Last week however we made it happen, and as soon as we finally find the cabin, unlock the door and mosey around, Ella finds rat poison and eats a mouthful. Ughhhhhhh. Seriously?! In calling the vet they recommend getting her some hydrogen peroxide to make her throw up the poison. So we head down to the local Safeway, buy a can of Yoplait yogurt and add three tablespoons of the peroxide. In less than 5 minutes she has thrown up the entire contents of her stomach all over the parking lot. Nice. Plan A succeeded. Now all we have to do is clean it all up. That's where my great husband comes into play. He was happily scooping up the mounds of dog barf with dinky Safeway newspaper coupons. What a man. In the end Ella is fine and the vet gave her Vitamin K to counteract the rat poison. I guess the trip to my grandma's cabin was just not meant to be.

iPhone v. Droid

Eric and I went on a date to the mall. We made a visit to the beloved Mac store... and we fell in love with the iPhone. Well, maybe I should say I fell in love with this wonderful phone. Eric is a little old fashioned and isn't convinced that the iPhone is at all necessary, even though it's required that he get one for school, but anyways, I predict new iPhones in our future...

Ok so do any of you have an opinion on the Droid by Verizon? We now are trying to decide on getting the Driod or the iPhone. Oh the vain choices we are mulling in our heads. Really though it's just me.

YJ Mager for Governor

So my mom was running for governor of Colorado. Don't ask me why. It was a long and painful race (for my dad since he did everything), but it is now thankfully over.
My mom sometimes gets these crazy ideas in her head like, "I think I'm going to run for governor," and just runs with it. She did however beat out 9 other candidates in the preliminaries and made it to the state assembly.
The state assembly was in Loveland, CO this year at the Budweiser events center. There were thousands of people there and my mom had to give a speech to them all. Little did I know that I would be going on the stage with her and my family. I thought I would be safe in the stands, watching and taking pictures. I would have looked so much better if I knew... But since I was on stage I couldn't take any pictures and so I don't have cool photos to post. Here are some links though, not because you are interested, but for my keeping :)

Wait what did you just say?

Today was one of those days at the pharmacy that you just pray will end so you can be put out of your misery. It was a crazy day. I was working the drop-off Rx counter while helping two people- one on the phone and one in person. I was pretty wrapped up and swamped with work. I didn't even notice the gentleman Kevin was helping at the pick-up window. What did make me notice him however was this, "this counter isn't that f***ing tall for you to notice me." WHAT?!

Seriously, what??? Who says that?? I look over at the guy and he looks at me with the nastiest face, so I continue on with my work. This grouchy man walked up to the pharmacy and wasn't recognized right away (literally right away because Kevin was walking up to him from behind the shelving). While I was on the phone he apparently said, "what is the pharmacy f***ing closed?!" Connie, the pharmacist then looked up from her work and said, "oh I'm sorry I didn't see you" to which he replied the statement above at which point I started overhearing ("this counter isn't that f***ing tall for you to notice me."). Kevin then starts to help the grouch and asks him if he has any questions for the pharmacist. His last remark is, "yeah, ask her to f***ing cut that counter down so she can f***ing see me." And then he walks off.

What the freaking heck???? I was FLABERGASTED. Who does that? The dude was obviously having a terrible day. He wanted to bring us down with him by riling us up with his profanity. Hahaha, it didn't work. Connie just kept apologizing for being short. She told us that she could take his out of control behavior because it wasn't personal and that she knew he was having a bad day. It didn't affect her. But she told us that we should never take that type of behavior and to call security to escort that person out of the store. I would have loved to see that guy escorted out.

Sadly to say my night did not end there. People were relentless. Blaming me for all of their problems. I guess the rough night was showing on me because one of the patients we were helping came up to me before he left and said, "Hey, you are beautiful. And I hope your night gets better." My heart sunk. This guy took 10 seconds out of his life to tell me something so sweet just to make my night better. What a nice guy. And he really did make my night better. He put a smile on my face and his kindness far outweighed the general nastiness from all the other people.

So the moral of my blog tonight is to encourage you to lend kind words to others, especially when you know they need it, and especially if you don't know them. This way there will still be hope left in humanity and people will know they have angels watching over them.

Socks

When my baby girl Ella wants to go outside and we're not getting the hint fast enough...

She'll take one of my socks that are lying by my bed, and bring it to me.

Take that for smart. A dog recognizing that socks mean going outside. We're so proud.
