Wait what did you just say?

Today was one of those days at the pharmacy that you just pray will end so you can be put out of your misery. It was a crazy day. I was working the drop-off Rx counter while helping two people- one on the phone and one in person. I was pretty wrapped up and swamped with work. I didn't even notice the gentleman Kevin was helping at the pick-up window. What did make me notice him however was this, "this counter isn't that f***ing tall for you to notice me." WHAT?!

Seriously, what??? Who says that?? I look over at the guy and he looks at me with the nastiest face, so I continue on with my work. This grouchy man walked up to the pharmacy and wasn't recognized right away (literally right away because Kevin was walking up to him from behind the shelving). While I was on the phone he apparently said, "what is the pharmacy f***ing closed?!" Connie, the pharmacist then looked up from her work and said, "oh I'm sorry I didn't see you" to which he replied the statement above at which point I started overhearing ("this counter isn't that f***ing tall for you to notice me."). Kevin then starts to help the grouch and asks him if he has any questions for the pharmacist. His last remark is, "yeah, ask her to f***ing cut that counter down so she can f***ing see me." And then he walks off.

What the freaking heck???? I was FLABERGASTED. Who does that? The dude was obviously having a terrible day. He wanted to bring us down with him by riling us up with his profanity. Hahaha, it didn't work. Connie just kept apologizing for being short. She told us that she could take his out of control behavior because it wasn't personal and that she knew he was having a bad day. It didn't affect her. But she told us that we should never take that type of behavior and to call security to escort that person out of the store. I would have loved to see that guy escorted out.

Sadly to say my night did not end there. People were relentless. Blaming me for all of their problems. I guess the rough night was showing on me because one of the patients we were helping came up to me before he left and said, "Hey, you are beautiful. And I hope your night gets better." My heart sunk. This guy took 10 seconds out of his life to tell me something so sweet just to make my night better. What a nice guy. And he really did make my night better. He put a smile on my face and his kindness far outweighed the general nastiness from all the other people.

So the moral of my blog tonight is to encourage you to lend kind words to others, especially when you know they need it, and especially if you don't know them. This way there will still be hope left in humanity and people will know they have angels watching over them.

Sounds like a crazy day! I hear ya about the kindness outweighing the nastiness though. All it takes is someone complimenting me in any way and I'm a happy camper. :D
