Funny People

People are funny. We had one patient the other day bring us a script from her doctor that she was really confused about. The doc told her to put a gel that was prescription strength in Ocean Spray, mix it up and inhale it through her nose. The entire way to the pharmacy she was thinking about how weird of a prescription that was. She gets to our "drop off" window and asks to speak with a pharmacist. She asks, "why does my doctor want me to inhale cranberry juice, is he crazy?!" Hahaha, we all had a good laugh. Ocean Spray is a brand name nasal spray that is OTC (over the counter). Why the doc didn't explain that to her I don't know and why she didn't ask the doc to clarify what she was suppossed to do I don't know either. But I'm glad it worked out the way it did because I found it hilarious.

Tonight we had a concerned teenager who is on birth control ask us a question about an ad she saw on TV about the risks of taking her specific birth control. Those ads you see on TV are basically two companies fighting and one company trying to make the other look bad and loose customers by making people concerned over "risks" they should not be concerned with. Anyways, the teenager was concerned and had not taken her pills because of it. The pharmacist was asking her if she smokes, because that's one of the underlying risk factors for ANYONE taking ANY birth control. And she said, "no... well, actually sometimes. I smoke the hookah once in awhile." I had to grin at that one.
